Maths fangirling, and G3

We had another event yesterday about Complementary Medicine, at which one of the speakers was Simon Singh, scientist, pendant and author of international best-seller Fermat's Last Theorum.

Naturally, being something of an ex-maths geek, I was very excited by this, and saddened that I wasn't going to be able to meet the great man himself.

Fortunately my colleagues love and adore me (as they so rightly should), and mentioned my respectful admiration of his work to him. He's going to send me a signed copy of his book!! Eee!! :D

In other news, it appears that I am going to Wolf Galactica 3 in August, as niannah is unfortunately no longer able to go. So I'm going to spend a weekend being Anna, which should be fun :)

I suppose I'd better get on and watch season 3 then.

You understand that I had a big plan to dress up as Doctor Who in pinstripe trousers and converse and, since you're going to be me for the weekend, now you have to do it? ;D

I'll email you back at lunch time when I get a chance. I'm really glad you're happy to take the ticket. Have fun! I'll miss being there, but such is student life. And there will be future cons, I am sure. :)

Sadly I don't have
a). a pinstriped suit in the right colours (brown or blue); or
b). Converse shoes
so I won't be able to go ahead with that plan. Otherwise I would've been right there. ;)

There will be future cons, for sure, and we will all make it along! :) For now, though, there is academia and supernoodles(tm).

That is so awesome. He got an honary doctorate at my graduation, so I saw him speak briefly there which was very cool. He's a fascinating man. Which book are you getting signed?? :D

Totally :) I'd love to hear him speak, but unfortunately I couldn't go to the seminar. I've no idea which book it'll be. He just said he'd send one. I hope he remembers. :D

Did Anna inform you that being Anna for the weekend involved sharing a double bed with me because they had no twin rooms left when we booked? I bet she didn't! ;)

I'm sad Anna can't go too, but I'm glad her ticket's not going to waste, and that you won't be there on your own. I will definitely get around to s3 at some point in the next few weeks.
