Oh, I almost forgot to mention - I got canvassed by the Tories this morning. They didn't seem very interested in capturing my vote. Perhaps I look like a natural Lib Dem sympathiser, or indeed a hardy Labour girl, rather than a Pony Club, three BMWs and a Jag for the weekends, mummy and daddy buy me everything I want but I work in The City for a bit of extra cash yah Tory they were looking for.
I spotted them, sporting their cheery but a bit small imo, blue rosettes as I was walking down the road to the train station. "What ho!" thought I. "Tories at 12 o'clock!" A few days ago a Tory canvasser came around to our house, and I refused to speak to him/her, which I've been feeling a bit guilty about, so I decided that if these nice folk with their crazy right-wing views wanted a chat, well I was on time, I could spare them a few minutes. So I walked straight up to them with a smile on my face and a pro-Lib Dems song in my heart, and they ..
Thrust a leaflet in my general direction and continued talking to each other.
Hmm. Anyone would think Surrey South West was a safe Tory seat, not the 3rd ranked Lib Dem target seat in the country. Morons. If I was a floating voting (and isn't that the most hideous term ever? Makes me think of .. well, I'm sure you can imagine), I'd probably vote Lib Dem on principle. But then I do so hate being ignored.

Date: 2005-04-15 05:41 pm (UTC)Howard walked up, hand stuck out, face a picture of True Blue British Grit and said 'Hello, I'm Michael Howard!'
Bloke walking out of supermarket looked straight through him, didn't raise his hand to take Howard's and kept walking. Didn't even dip his head and shamble on by in the embarrassed manner of people who don't want to be on television. In Jane Austen parlance, he 'cut' the leader of the opposition.
I felt so sorry for Andrew Marr. He's got to be all unbiased and BBC-like, but you could tell he was trying very very hard to contain his hilarity at the look on Michael Howard's face.
