It's funny, it's been at least a year, probably more, since I was at all involved in Stargate fandom, but no matter how much I tell myself I'm over all that stuff, it still gets me furiously angry in a way almost nothing else does.

I feel the need to go and sit in OS chat for a bit, shore up my self-belief for a while.

I told myself I was just a casual fan, because I had been drifting.

It took only Reckoning to get me all bouncy, happy and excited.

Of course it took Threads (some parts of it and reading certain people's ljs) to get me all blah again.

We should start a group for therapy.

It's not you, not at all *loves madly* It's just Stargate itself. It gets to me. That metaphor I used before? Imagine me sitting in a wheelchair, twitching, feeling phantom pain where my legs used to be, and screaming every time I hear a loud bang because I think it's the Viet Cong come to get me. It's like that. Not good.

Ya know, it almost makes me feel better, knowing that it's not just me. I've been out of the fandom for what? Almost 2 years now? I'm not even sure anymore. I've spent the last week or two getting slowly back into the fandom, and it hurts but I just can't make it go away. I stopped watching after season 5, but lingered around in the fandom for a bit, now I've picked back up and watched all of 6, and am nearly halfway through 7. I fear 8 and 9 and what they'll do to my brain. On one hand, I love catching up with the fandom that really got me into... well, fandom. But on the other hand, it's also one of the more painful and annoyingasallhell fandoms that I've ever been witness to.
I still get angry at things that happened years ago, which is stupid. And even more stupid, I get angry at things that are happening now even if I only have half a clue whats going on. I think that's part of the reason why I'm letting myself get sucked back in to an extent, there was just never any escaping it in the first place. No matter how many times I told myself that I wasn't really in that fandom anymore, I still found myself paying attention to it or getting worked up about it, or getting nostalgic about it against my better judgement.
It really is the fandom that just won't die. I think I've finally resigned myself to this fact. My only protection being that I'm a professional lurker, so except for the people who knew me way back when ;) nobody knows who I am now or pays me or my rants any attention.

I will say that now I'm curious about what got you so worked up about it and am itching to go take a look at what this episode was all about... The evil, it's drawing me in!

That's pretty much what's going on here, to be honest. I know enough about the particular ep to know that if I saw it, it would make me furious, and that in and of itself is enough to get me angry. It's a self-fulfilling prophesy or something. Wretched fandom.

Someone asked me to write a 100 word opinon thing on J/D and J/S and as I was writing them both I actually got a physical pain and felt really stupid! But it was my first fandom and I can;t seem to get over it! I read the same spoilers and was like OMFG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Therapy charged to Tweedledum and tweedledummer sounds wonderful!

I've become more of just a watcher in sg1 now. I laugh at the funny bits, and jacob *censored* in this episode was... well it was sad but not tear worthy like the flock of us at sg4 crying over Daniel's death, which... am I the only one who feels stupid about that? Or is it not so much Daniel's death that was upsetting, more like.. the show is dead but it's still going OMG!

I dunno. Threads was just BORING. Far too long, didn't need 90 minutes and STILL nothing is fleshed out. I'd have more luck with S/J if they gave me a reason why those two are 'in love'. Like I would in any fandom.

And the last few weeks had been so good and now... urgh. I'm looking forward to the end of season 2 parter but right now, I'm much more occupied with Enterprise crew in TOS uniforms that's coming up. :)

That and Atlantis. Because sg1 is so dead, but atlantis kicks serious ass.

I would feel stupid about the whole Daniel issue, but I know that if I watched Meridian now, I'd still cry. I cry at everything, can't help it *G* We probably were a bit too overboard with it, but hey, we were caught up in the moment. And, like you say, we were mourning the show too.

I agree with the reason too - if there was any sense behind S/J except "Jack=man, Sam=woman, man+woman=luv" then I might be a bit more okay with it, but it just doesn't make any sense to me the way they're doing it.

Enterprise in TOS uniforms? No way! That's so cool *G* Link to screen caps? I want to see. Haha!

Aw... it's not been on th'telly yet, and no press releases on photos, just notes on st.com over what's going on on the set. It's about 5 weeks away maybe? Near the end of the season. We're getting a double parter set in the mirror universe. New opening credits, no crossover just.. set there.

Evil crew, with Terran empire uniforms. And in the second part, they're on the bridge of the defiant, since that was the ship lost to that universe in 'the tholian web' TOS episode, so it's from that time. So... we have a full model TOS bridge, and the crew in TOS uniforms! Mal, Trip and Mayweather as red shirts, Bakula in Kirk's green dress uniform, and T'Pol in a blue science mini skirt thing.

It's gonna be a hell of a two parter :) Apparently most of season 4 is great, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm scared to finish season 3, since it sucks. Trip/T'Pol is like sam/Jack. it's there because the man and woman = pretty lead stars. There's been no real reason to have them together apart from that so.. scary. Plus just plain stupid.

But looking forward to managing to get through things so I can see most of season 4. The second half of the season especially is kick ass.
