Okay, hello again :) It's been a busy week, yo. Busy! I have much updateyness to .. update with, but I'll try to split it into subjects so y'all can read the bits you care about and skip the rest.

So, I know I posted over-emotional "omg teh trauma!!!" posts all of Saturday and Sunday morning last week, for which I must apologise. Although, in fairness, it was rather traumatic. TMO and I are now speaking again, you will be glad to know (if only because you now don't have to hear about it), and she did indeed drive me up to Newbury last weekend. In short, I announced that I was leaving and taking the train, she cried, I cried, nothing was really said to solve anything, but by mutual consent we've moved on. All is reasonably well now, although honestly she's still a bit jumpy whenever I say .. anything at all. Hopefully she'll get over it when she realises that, hello, not the one who started it. Anyway, it's all reasonably okay atm. And that's that issue done.

I am staying at a B&B in Newbury, in case anyone didn't see that before, which is not ideal but will do until I find a place of my own. I've been dropping hints like big fat honkin' anvils, but no one's picked any up so far, mostly because no one wants to live with me, yo, because I am so unlivewithable. But hey, I can deal. For now, the B&B is okay. The woman is very nice, and every time I see her she drops the price, although that's possibly because the last two days (Thursday and Friday) I didn't get any breakfast. Anyway, it's okay. The walk to work takes just over half an hour, so I am getting rather fit from it, except for all the poisonous, toxic car fumes I am breathing in at the same time, which will likely lead to my early demise from some form of pollution-related cancer of the lungs. Fortunately I don't have to walk all the way home, as two of the chaps at work car-share down to Basingstoke every day, and they drop me off at Sainsbury's on their way home, from which I can walk home, which takes 15 minutes or so. I hadn't eaten properly for four days until I got home, as I get breakfast and I can get lunch at work, but there's no dinner :( Between that and the walk, I am quite wasting away to nothing. I get channel 5, thank the gods, so I saw CSI on Tuesday. It's only a season 2 repeat, but it's like a glass of water in the middle of a long crawl through the desert, so it's definitely a good thing. And this week it was the one with the bus crash and Greg in the field. Aaw <3 Sara was actually very sweet to/about him. Bless. I'm staying at the B&B again next week, as we've yet to find anywhere permanent, and we might not, but more on that later.

Wow. Where to start? I'll be reasonable brief as no one's *that* interested in it. There were four of us starting on Monday - myself, J, M and S. J, M and S are all lads, btw. J and M are the two who carpool. They're friends from way back, both living in Basingstoke, and S comes from Newbury itself. They're all very nice lads, and we all get on well, so far at least, which is nice :) We're working with the admin team for now, as we're not trained to do case work yet, and won't be for ages, but it's not too bad. The other admin staff are mostly temps, but they're all very nice too. There's J1, J2, G, C, A, R and R2. Gosh, that's confusing. I doubt I'll have to refer to them much though. It's mostly just to give you an idea. Most of the temps are girls (J1, G, C, R2), one is a lad (A), and J2 and R are the other two permanent staff members, who are both new as well, but not quite as new as myself, J, M and S. Reaching for the paracetamol yet? I know I am, and I know who all these people are!

R2 is our boss, sort of, or she was for the first few days anyway. Then we got split into two teams, and my team is temporarily being lead by A2, until the new boss arrives from London. A2 is very nice too, but he's often away on training because .. you guessed it, he's new! Honestly.

The first couple of days we mostly just did filing. My hands are absolutely covered in papercuts. Not at all pleasant. There's on on the knuckle of my little finger which really hurts when I type. I don't have my own desk or computer yet, but hopefully I will soon. I've been keeping up with my email from work, but I didn't dare risk checking my LJ in case I got caught, except once when I had to reply to a particular message of importance. After we were split into the two teams (which happened on Wednesday), our team started doing this thing where we phone round lots of people to check their contacts details, so if anyone in the UK gets a phone call from Zurich Financial Services asking them to confirm their phone number, and it's a girl voice, chances are it's me. Haha! We're not setting the world alight or anything, but it's more interesting than bl**dy filing. The job itself isn't too bad. It's not great, but I like the people and I'm sort of used to it now, so it's all okay. But then again..

I got some unexpected news on Wednesday afternoon, when an email arrived from a journal publishing company, asking me to come in for an interview for the position of editorial assistant. Huh. I guess there is truth in that saying about it being easier to get a job once you have one! I've set up an interview for next Friday, 2pm, so y'all need to send me good luck vibes and the like :) It's in Hertford (omg, I've called it Hartford, Hartfield, Hereford, Herefield, and goodness only knows what else the last few days. But it's definitely Hertford), which is miles and miles and miles away from here, but it's quite near where [livejournal.com profile] apolla lives, which might be nice :) Anyway, I've got to get through an interview first, and then we'll see where it goes. I can't even rightly remember what the job description was, and I've no clue where the ad might be, or even if there is one. Must look tomorrow. For now, though, I've just got to wait and see what happens. I've managed to get next Friday off work by agreeing to work until 8pm (omg) Monday-Wednesday, doing evening phone calls, which will be a big old plate of heck. But it does mean I can take that Friday off without losing any leave, which is useful. So.. that's my news.

[livejournal.com profile] rach74 - I'm so sorry, I still have your CSI CDs and I totally forgot to post them because I am a doofus. I'll burn the next one for you as well, and get them on their way asap.

I've tried to catch up on a couple of LJs, but I can't possibly do them all (*cries*) so if there's anything important (like, say, fic) that I need/might want to see, or if you just want me to go check out your great post on your local brownie pack's cake stand at the school fate, whatever, let me know here :)

I think that's it. Any questions? *g*

I'm fairly sure I applied for that Lead Media thing in Hertford- I did get v confused at your text cos there have been Hertford AND Hatfield jobs I've gone for so I was like "Wonder which one she means?"

I haven't heard back from them, so I assume they don't want me- not that I can even REMEMBER the job particularly. Anyway, you're welcome to come over to my house for dinner, but it might be a bit of a schlep for you as well as then getting home at some point.

If I forget to say: GOOD LUCK!
*hugs*

I know, I'm sorry about that text. I realised after I'd sent it that I'd put completely the wrong name. In my defence, it was quite early in the morning and I was pre-caffeinated.

They only just replied to me, and I'm pretty sure I applied at least a month or two ago, so they might just not have got up to your name yet. I don't rightly remember what the job is either yet. I asked them to send me a copy of the job specification, but it hasn't arrived yet. I hope I get it before the interview, or I'll be wandering about blindly in the dark trying to hit the right buttons for the job, as it were. I've got to look into train/bus/coach/pony and trap times to find out what's the best way of getting there. It's a heck of a hike, but I'll let you know if it turns out I'll be near enough for a visit :)

Thanks :) *hugs*

J1, J2, G, C, A, R and R2.

*boggles* wowsers. I'm glad they have names in real life, because that's a bit confusing.

8pm!!! *dies* Well, I suppose it's worth it, for scones somewhere near the vicinity of Hertford (or whatever it's called). *scrolls up* Yes, Hertford. But good gracious. I bitch when I have to stay in till 5:45pm (as I did tonight, *bitchbitch*).

Anyway, glad you're back in broadband land for the weekend, and also glad things worked out okay with your mother last week. :)

It is rather, isn't it. But it seems the best way to denote them for the purpose of explaining how many people there are, without giving away their real names. Not that it matters much, I suppose, but .. eh.

I know. I do get to take a break between 5pm and 6pm or so, to have some dinner hopefully, which will almost be better that going home because we have a microwave at work so I can eat hot food! Which will be a nice change.

As am I :)

I just found the CDs in the draw as I was packing to come home and I was like ".. f***!" But TMO says she'll take them and post them this week, so I'll burn the new one (Mea Culpa) today or tomorrow some time, and get them on their way to you asap. *hugs* Thanks :)
