The You-Know-What
Nov. 3rd, 2004 07:48 pmSo, the election result sucks. It really does. We all had such high hopes, such optimism, and now we're all stuck with Bush for another four years. Unless we get lucky and he chokes on another pretzel and this time the secret service are otherwise occupied checking up on people who write things like this sentence in their Livejournals. A girl can hope, eh?*
I'm sorry for those on my flist who are Americans, and therefore will feel the effects of this result the most, especially in those states which brought in anti-gay marriage laws and stuff. We did what we could. Turnout was high, and democracy did its thing. That's the thing about democracy though - sometimes the guy you want doesn't get in.
Anyway, enough about that. It's bad, but we just have to accept it and move on. Nothing can be done now.
They're rerunning season 6 of Buffy on Sky One at the moment, and today I happened to catch a bit of Wrecked, with Amy being acrack magic junkie and Willow and Rack. Made me think of DM AU :) Interesting to see that junkie!Willow (for whom I felt 0 sympathy, even when she was balling her eyes out. I am so bitter, yo) really didn't eat. I thought I'd made that up, but apparently Joss did and I borrowed it. Go figure.
*For the benefit of the FBI, etc: this is NOT a threat on Mr Bush's life. It is merely an expression of the hope that natural selection will take its course.

Tuesday would have killed me out flat if I were in your position. Then again, I lack your skills and qualifications for such a scenario so I suppose it's different.
Ahh, sweet, sweet caffeine. If only I didn't have to work. Not that I've done huge amounts in the last two days, but that doesn't mean I don't have to be up when the sun is still rubbing sleep from its eyes. Or when it's coming home after a hard day's partying in Tokyo, one or the other.

Date: 2004-11-03 12:47 pm (UTC)Tuesday didn't seem so tiring at the time, but I suppose it's mental stress or whatever. I have decided that I'm having a day off tomorrow. Nothing work-related will happen tomorrow, and I will just read fic, write fic (hopefully), and watch TV. Mmm :)
I don't think even the powers of caffeine are going to keep me awake long enough to watch CSI:Miami tonight, but damn it I'm going to try. *props eyes open w/ matchsticks*

Date: 2004-11-03 01:04 pm (UTC)I'm sure it was stressful. A day off sounds lovely! A day reading fic would be just dandy. When's your mother returning? Are you going to be sitting there, idly drinking coffee and reading fic with the house all to yourself? If so, my envy is limitless.
My eyes are doing the matchstick thing already. It's only 9:04!

Date: 2004-11-03 01:08 pm (UTC)If only there were enough fic out there to occupy me for a whole day. But then, I'll just have to take some of that time to write some of my own .. so it's probably a good thing that there isn't that much that I want to read that I haven't already. For most of the day, yes. She'll be at work from morning to some point in the afternoon, as she is every day, so I have total peace and quiet. Mmm peace and quiet.
I know! It feels like about midnight. *yawn*

Date: 2004-11-03 01:21 pm (UTC)Given your arguments, I'm glad there isn't enough fic to occupy you for a whole day. It would be Wrong.
Oh, peace and quiet. I never have that. And if I move out, I'll have too much of it. It's a tough call. I really want peace & quiet, though, and a nice cup of tea. While you're sitting there tomorrow know that I am at work being utterly jealous of you.
It really does. Time changes suck yo.

Date: 2004-11-03 01:25 pm (UTC)I think I'm quite glad too. I really would like to get moving on DM AU.
I love my peace and quiet :) I'll think of you tomorrow while I am being both peaceful and quiet, and will send calming vibes your way. The tea I can't help with.

Date: 2004-11-03 01:37 pm (UTC)Yay, I second that, but as usual I do so in a relaxed fashion, indeed a perfect balance between encouragement and
obsessiveinterest, but not too overpoweringly eager. Just so you don't feel, you know, pressured. You might be less likely to write that way. I have it down to a fine art.Calming vibes would be good. The tea I can handle myself. But calming vibes are always nice.
Now I'm going to go get some comatose vibes while I sleep. It's 9:36. I'm so hardcore.

Date: 2004-11-03 01:39 pm (UTC)You do, you're quite the expert in hitting that balance. I am consistently impressed.
Will do my best then *g*
Sleep well, and enjoy the book :)
