I just bought a new computer! Mine's started not just randomly restarting itself but freezing completely, so I decided that enough was enough. The new one should arrive within about 10 days, I think, so .. fingers crossed! :) If it's crap, please for the love of kittens don't tell me. I've just spent £400 on it, and it's too late to change my mind.

I think I'm going to have to try open source Office-style software because my copy of office is, well, a little less than legal, and won't be easily ported to a new machine. If anyone has any recommendations of what's good, and how to go about installing it, that'd be great.

My media files, etc., have all gone onto the external drive already, in case the old PC drops dead (fairly likely). Whee! :)

It's been bugging the hell out of me lately when I've been trying to use it to write articles of a specific length. You can occasionally run a word count, close the file, run word count again and get a completely different number. Not sure why or how.

That would be pretty awesome, if you have some spares going. My current PC copies of Office 2003, I think, were spare copies my aunt had. I had to go through three or four sets to find one that wasn't already locked out, but one of them did work. Sadly I gave the discs back though.

But yeah, if you do find a copy lying around, let me know and I can email my address over. Thanks :)
