Have done my bit for democracy etc. I always get a bit panicked going in to the polling station in case I suddenly have a moment of grand confusion or insanity and accidentally vote Conservative or something. I didn't. I think.

I had a "Please God, forgive me my sins" when I came out... and then Gil Scott-Heron's song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" came onto my iPod shuffle... not sure what that message is, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I'm so fucked off, I think I'll become a politician meself.

Oh lord, you didn't vote Tory did you?!? *g*

Welwyn's a fairly marginal seat if I recall right, so as painful as it is I guess you just have to go for the lesser of two evils and do what you can to keep the Tories out.

You'd make a marvellous politian. Don't know what party though. Maybe you could start your own.

Welwyn Hatfield is apparently the 8th most vulnerable seat, although from all the heavy campaigning, you wouldn't believe it. Barely flyers through the door, I'm tellnig you.

You think I'd be a marvellous politician? Interesting. I'm genuinely considering finally joining the Labour party to attempt to move it back to Actual Socialism instead of Watered Down Thatcherism... but I'm not arrogant enough to think it would work, so I don't know. Even the Monster Raving Loonies have lost momentum since Lord Sutch died. I HAVE NOWHERE!

Maybe I could start the Nowhere Man party, for all us disillusioned people who are about to start supporting anarchy.

Weird. We haven't had much here either, and we're a marginal Lib Dem/Tory seat. It looks like you're quite likely to go Tory sadly, the way things are going, but you never know.

Definitely. You know your stuff and you wouldn't be afraid to stand up in the House and raise points in PMQs and stuff. Maybe Respect or Socialist Labour? Or maybe things will change in Labour once Gordon takes over.

And no, I didn't vote Tory. I voted Labour in the (probably misguided) belief that the only party I've ever felt any affinity to will remember its socialist roots and get back to reality.

Hehe, I guessed really *g* The Labour leadership mostly suck, but some of the rank and file MPs are good folk. There's still hope.

I only get nervous in case they think I'm not me or something, but I always wait and go with my parents so there's no problems!

But don't you get there, see the big sign about not defacing the paper, and get this sudden urge to write something vile over the Tory's name?

I had my polling card and my credit cards and stuff with me, so proving that I'm me wouldn't have been a problem. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't let me vote in the general because my polling card only said "Farnham Central", not "Surrey South West", but that was fine.

I didn't notice any signs at all. I didn't notice much of anything really, I was just blinkered completely into "put cross on paper OMG NOT NEXT TO TORY NAME!" All over bar the verdict now though. Just have to wait and see if it was enough.

Read the ballot three times, isolate Tory name, check the one you're positive you're voting FOR, make sure it's still not possible for the Tory name to have jumped position on ballot, THEN mark with x.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who did that.

Then there's getting done and having the OMGWHATIFITMUTATESINTHEBOX?!! moment because I got it done, no probs, but it was very easy which always makes me worry that the ballot's made of Rearranging Ink or something equally insane and what if I've now voted Tory BY ACCIDENT?! That would be even worse than actually wanting to. *gibber*

Heh, me too *G* It's very interesting actually to see how afraid we all are of accidentally voting Tory! *g* We've done all we can now though. Just have to sit back and watch Peter Snow and the swingometer.

*sniffle* Now I'm sad that there won't be constant election rambling in your journal anymore. Twas the highlight of my day. I've been vicariously living the election through you, in hopes that it turns out better than mine did.

Aw :) It may still turn out well - reduced majority for Labour, more seats for the Lib Dems, crushing defeat for the Tories. We'll soon see :)

Hahahaha! What idiot would get panicked about that? Oh wait... me. *g* Hopefully I got it right and didn't vote conservative or for the UKIP bag-lady.

Heh *G* It's nice to know it's not just me who has these crazy polling booth minutes. I know we had a UKIP bloke and a Veritarse bloke too, but I didn't actually notice them on the ballot paper ... *worries* I'm sure it's fine though.

I just had this conversation with my dad and he said that when he got into the carpark he suddenly worried that he might have accidentally voted Conservative too. So it's not just us...

We only had four - Lab, Con, Lib Dem and UKIP.

It seems we all get twitchy about these things *g*

We had those five. In Windsor, where I work, there was also an Independent and a Green, which was fun, but it's a safe Tory seat, so they won't get anywhere.

I felt a minor urge just before I drew my cross to vote Scottish Socialist. It past after a second, but it was there, and it scared me.

I felt a slight pull to Labour before I regained my senses and marked my X next to the Lib Dems.
