Come on, help drag me out of my crazy. Meme me, kids, meme me.

I love looking at people's icons, but I don't always *get* them - I often wonder stuff like, "Who's that guy?" or "Where's that quote from?" but I tend not to ask, for various reasons. So come on, here are my icons. Pick one (or more!) you're curious about, and I'll try to explain it. Or at least explain what I like about it.

Well, that's Tom Lenk in a film he did called Window Theory which, I presume, went straight to video, assuming it got released at all. It was one of a very small number of promo shots that were released. If there were more, I didn't see them. I just thought it was a nice picture, so I made it into an icon. It's one of the ones I'll likely take down and replace with a CSI icon when I make a new one, but it is quite pretty.

I rather like it. Have no idea who the actor or the flick is, but the picture struck me as... well, pretty =)

Who is this young man and why is he wearing safety goggles and why do you want him to whisper and what is it that you want him to whisper?

This young man is Greg Sanders, one of my make-believe CSI boyfriends. He is wearing safety goggles because he used to work in a DNA lab doing sciencey type stuff and wearing a lab coat (hence my love for him - I have some lab coat .. issues), and therefore needed to protect his eyes from chemicals and suchforth. The words are from the song "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows, which was written for Shrek 2, but is sort of a Nick/Greg song for me (Nick is another chap from CSI. He is my other make-believe CSI boyfriend), so I put one lyric from the song on a Greg icon and another on a Nick icon. I want to hear him whisper because CBS won't let him shout about his omgwtfgaylove for Nick. <3 I would settle for more eye-fucking with Ecklie, who is his boss's boss. Kind of. Heh. *g*

Science guys. Sigh. God protect them. Goggles, protect them.

So, lemme get this straight: your two imaginary CSI boyfriends are also dating in your imagination? I wouldn't know ANYTHING about that. I would NEVER crush out on two fanon boys who are *obviously* madly in love with both each other. I mean, that would be like crushing out on Warren and Tucker! And that is just... well, inconceivable!

This is art by Anne Taintor (http://annetaintor.com/), whose stuff appears in little shops/grocery stores here in Amurrica. She's hilarious, I think. Retro pictures with fridge magnet-like text over them. Obviously. Anyway, I made this one into an icon because of... well, because of roleplaying and fic and writing and reading. I've always liked Imaginary Men best. When I was a little grade schooler, I had this perfect boy in my head and no other real life boy would possibly ever equal him in awesomeness. I even had an acronym for him. MSBB. And no, I won't elaborate. He wasn't my first imaginary friend, but he was my first imaginary boyfriend.

There are many more, now. They are still so much fun. And they always keep me on my toes. Not in the same ways that my real-life man/men do, either. In COOL ways that always seem to end in completely planet-shattering sex.

:-) xo

I know. It's a sickness.

It's pretty, that one. I like it. I'm going to go check out that link when I've written this comment. Imaginary men are definitely best :)

This one? It's a picture I found on some Hungarian picture archive website, which I use to represent an OC I invented called Meg who lives in a Buffy fic I wrote (http://www.circa-now.net/emony/fic/darkm.html). She's a selfish, self-centred magic junkie, but she's my selfish, self-centred magic junkie.

Wtf?! Their love is ETERNAL!!! ;D No, really, the Drunk one was just a joke, because that look Greg gives Ecklie in "Who Shot Sherlock" was so "oh boy, I must've been really drunk *that* night". So I made it an icon, because my tastes are simple. Then I saw the "walking down the corridor, ignoring Grissom" scene in "King Baby", and heard the Jackie Collins quote, and felt a compulsion to put the two together. Greg/Ecklie. It's so bad and wrong, it just must be right. Or something. *eg*

Ahah, Spy Groove! It's from a short-lived cartoon they used to show on MTV called "Spy Groove", about those two guys - Agent Number 1 and Agent Number 2 - who are spies. There are only 6 episodes, in which they fly around the world fighting crime and being witty and stuff. It was cool :)

Holly. Dear Holly. In the pilot episode of CSI, a new recruit called Holly Gribbs starts work at CSI. As Holly moves around the lab on her first day, the new audience sees everything through her eyes, meets the team, gets to understand the procedure and the situations. Holly has doubts about whether she can cope as a CSI, but Catherine talks her in to staying. At the end of the pilot, Holly is at a crime scene trying to solve her first case, when the shooter comes back to the scene and attacks her. She goes in to surgery, but she doesn't make it. Sometimes, I feel like it's my first day.

Yeah, it was pretty cool, in a sad sort of way. Not quite so sad as Doyle though, as it was done deliberately, not for RL reasons, and because we didn't have quite so much time to bond with Holly as we did with Doyle. But yeah, it worked well, I think.

of course, also sounds like buffy's quote in welcome to the hellmouth. did you think of that quote when you made it? I can hear sarah michelle gellar in my head saying 'it's my first day.. I didn't think there'd be vampires on campus.'

so csi is your new crack then? Considering how many icons you have for it now and posts about it. I don't watch but I'm kind of curious, you still get involved a lot in Buffy fandom, or is that going to the side to make way for csi?

Kind of considering how I operate myself with fandoms. Enterprise being my crack and it's over soon so..

CSIs been my crack for a while really. Buffy is the comfortable pot I smoke when I want to mellow out and do something I feel totally safe with, but CSI is the one I do for kicks. Although I don't actually write CSI fic yet, and there's not really much to read, but I love the show, even though it's now (season 5) not as good as it was. Buffy's still around, definitely, but no one really seems to be reading it anymore, so it's hard work to keep writing it when there's next to no fb to motivate me, you know?

You could definitely give CSI a try. Go back to season 1 and work through it maybe, if you could borrow or rent it on DVD. Failing that, I'm sure you'll find a new fandom to love. Maybe that Numb3rs show that seems so popular at the moment, or Lost, or maybe the next show DK gets hired for. Who knows. These things are so hard to predict.

I used to be able to fall into shows really easily, now I'm more strict. Must watch in order, from the beginning. So if I was going to I would watch season one rather than launch in somewhere. I did watch some csi miami, for pure kicks, I don't know why, lol. I haven't really fallen into something that's more or less detective work since diagnosis murder. euch.

I would like to see Lost, if it comes to the UK. I would watch Point Pleasant, but I never realised it had started. House is quite appealing too for comedy value. And yeah, I'll watch anything and everything with DK in it, no matter how crap, I mean, I endured The Immortal and Lorenzo Lameass for him ;)But then, he was the only one in it who could act so it was worth it for those moments.

It's tough to really think of new shows worth watching. I think I'll just end up slipping more into Atlantis fandom. But it's strange, because it's linked with SG1, it's like going back to that somehow, and SG1, I still watch etc, but the fandom is too scary to really contemplate.

I'll bite, although this is only semi-icon-related. Of all the men, hot and not, on CSI...why Greg/Ecklie? I notice you have 2 G/E icons, which is also how many Greg/Nick icons you have, and clearly Greg/Nick is one of your OTP's.

It just makes me wonder: how serious are you, really, about this half-amusing, half-terrifying Greg/Ecklie business?

Cause if you wrote Greg/Ecklie, I would read it.

Hey, it's not my fault, I just see what's there. First there was that scene in Who Shot Sherlock, that inspired my "drunk" icon - because that's *so* what Greg was thinking, and then I saw those two scenes in King Baby, and it all just cemented, especially that one scene where Ecklie and Grissom are chatting away, then Greg appears and suddenly Grissom is walking along in the background, and it's Greg and Ecklie who are the focus of the scene, talking, smirking, referencing illicit relationships. It's all there, man. It's all there. I'm just tapping in to what the PTB give *eg*

That said, Nick/Greg is, and always will be, my CSI OTP. Greg/Ecklie is a nice diversion, but it exists in the same 'verse as Nick/Greg of some distinction, whether it's post some break up or pre getting together or whatever, there's always some kind of Nick/Greg too. Because there *is*.

I am entirely serious about the Greg/Ecklie though. It just needs to be handled with the right amount of tongue-in-cheek (no pun) because serious twu wuv 4 evah just would not work with those two. I have more thoughts, but I need to get to bed, so for now this'll have to do.

If I ever write any, I'll be sure and let you know *g*

The quote is from a Barenaked Ladies song, "I'll be that girl", from the album Stunt. I love that album. Every song on it <3

That one - tits are great and all, but I'm so fricking bored of opening up my friends list and seeing "Boobiezomglol!!!!!" I was under the impression that I was friends with a group of mature, sensible, (mostly) women, not a pack of 12-year-old schoolboys giggling under the bedcovers at pictures of "Queen Amidala with Two Blasters". Sometimes, I just have to express that feeling in picture form.

How's that? ;)

No questions, but I'd never seen your Harry Potter icon with the "I touch the fire/and it freezes me" lyric and I love it. I'm a sucker for crossover icons. (See my icon, :P)

Thanks :) It seemed as appropriate a lyric for Harry as it is for Buffy, with their shared saving-the-world, detatched trauma-ness and suchlike. I don't use it nearly as much as I ought to.
