Hearing the words "partner swapping" in relations to one's grandparents is something no one should have to go through. "It was the 70s" is no excuse. I mean .. dude.

TMO came over today and we went over to aunt C and Boychild's new house. Well, it's not their house really. They're house-sitting for a while, so aunt C can get out of her house (shared with the now-ex-gf omg tension trauma angst!) for a few months. Out of myself, TMO and aunt C, one person bought easter eggs for the others, and that one person got no easter eggs at all in return. Guess who that one person was? Hm. I don't mind it from TMO - she meant to get some and forgot. Aunt C, however, used the "I don't have any money" excuse, which frankly I'm sick of. If she really had no money, I'd entirely understand, but it's a matter of priorities - her priorities are her own gym membership, her ice hockey season ticket, etc. Birthday presents, etc, for family members come around and suddenly it's "ooh I can only afford to pay half as much as everyone else. I have no money!" Call me old fashioned, but it seems to me that when you can find £70 for gym membership but you can't spare £2 for an easter egg, that's just plain selfishness.

Boychild was hilarious though. I told him the "Ron=Dumbledore" HP theory last week, and he's taken it and run with it. He's decided that at the end of book 7 they'll all assume Ron is dead, until finally Dumbledore says, "ah, something I must tell you.." and reveals that he's actually Ron, gone back in time to make sure things all go right. Hermione and Dumbledore then start dating again, but it doesn't really work (on account of her being 18 and him being .. well, the age difference would be insurmountable, to quote Holly), so Hermione goes back in time and becomes McGonagall. Boychild is going to look through all the films and books again for "little looks" between Ron-Dumbledore and Hermione-McGonagall to try and prove his theory. A child after my own conspiracy-loving heart *g*

I changed my mood theme too to [livejournal.com profile] niannah's new Alternative Trio one, which I adore, and I deleted 10 of my icons and put up two new ones. I was going to do 10 new ones, but I got bored. I can never find the really nice pictures, and I sort of suck, so my icons are always a bit second rate. It troubles me.

Ahh! The sheer vain thrill of seeing my moodtheme on your post is quite exhilerating. *g*

Also, your aunt is a stingebag.

Hehe *G* It's a very cool mood theme. I love it dearly. I saw a Buffy/Warren Wishverse pic earlier and had to run off and reread Divided. Mmm :)

Indeed she is.

Ooh, I have a relative like that too: UG's Uncle D. He's worse though. He phones up the week before Christmas 'just to check of the presents for the kids are okay with you' and tells us that he's bought great gifts (previous examples: a Game Boy, a TV, a solar-powered radio), and then hints that he's getting us something great too (this year it was the Babylon 5 DVDs).

So UG and I panic, and have to get him a great present too. And then on Christmas day, he shows up with ancient grubby second-hand presents he obviously bought off a bloke in the pub for the spawn. And UG and I get plastic pens that light up when you write.

Because he's doesn't have any money. Despite the fact that he pulled up to the door on a brand new motorbike.

Oh dear, that's awful. At least my aunt has been fairly good about family presents in the past, and I don't think she'd ever outright lie about getting us cool stuff. She just prioritises in a way that I wouldn't prioritise (I hope). Outright deception like that sucks though. You should take along two sets of presents, see what he gets you, and then give him the cheap presents and keep the good ones for yourselves.
