You know those nights where you wake up half-way through a brilliant idea? I had one of those a few days ago. I mentioned said idea to Anna, who thought it sounded quite fun, so here it is. I propose a Buffy Episode Title Drabble Challenge. It's not really a challenge so much as something that might hopefully inspire a few people. I woke up, for example, absolutely sure that I was on the brink of writing a brilliant and awe-inspiring drabble/fic based around some combination of Amy, Katrina, Tucker and Warren, called "The Yoko Factor". Some of the ep titles are .. well, I think you'd have a had time drabbling or ficing to them, but y'all are a very talented bunch so I hope to see some interesting stuff *g*

Feel free to post them here, or to post links to them here. Feel free to write in whatever fandom you feel inspired to write in. Feel free to write for a title even if someone else has already written for it. The more the merrier and all that. I hope some people write stuff for this. I think it might be cool :)

Also, on a CSI note, because there had to be one *G*, there need to be (more) "Catherine's investigation doesn't prove Nick innocent in time, and Nick gets sacked from CSI" AUs. Just because I watched that ep today, and .. well, there should be.

And - Happy New Year :) <3

1 Welcome to the Hellmouth (100 words)

Parents. One semester left in high school and they had to choose now to break up. Warren kicked the dust in the quad for the tenth time, wishing his father had never existed except for that single important moment. California sun glared brazenly against the stone.

Then the kid walked by, awkward and too tall for his age, his hair a shock of blond. Warren saw his t-shirt first, Trek symbol on the left, and then his face: bright, wide eyes, naiveté radiating out of every clear pore.

Warren watched him pass. Welcome to Sunnydale, he thought with a smile.

Warren and Tucker missed the fight.

Neither would claim responsibility, yet both ended up with gowns shucked up to their necks and mortar boards flung aside in the locker room, far from the explosion and, as Jonathan said later, the giant snake. Neither of them cared that they had missed out on Sunnydale High’s most bonding experience since the class of ’63 were immolated in an unexplained vortex in the gym on prom night. Neither cared for lifestyle choices or rights or rainbows.

Both said later that it was the best sex ever, so they tried it again. And again.

Heheh, I do like that *g* So fitting too, as an introduction to the evil pull off the Hellmouth that seems to benign at first but ends up with that whole crime, murder, deadness thing. Mmm yes. <3

First Date (100 words)

From: [identity profile] maryavatar.livejournal.com
Their first date wasn't so much a 'date' as it was... sex. Andrew had been giving Warren those lingering looks, and Warren thought 'Why not?' It wasn't like it was all that different really, in the dark. Not that he had much to compare it to: one girl, one robot, and Andrew.

It kept Andrew in line, even if he didn't seem to enjoy it much. Sometimes Warren thought it might be a good idea to Google for gay sex tips and try again, but usually he dismissed it as a waste of time. Defeating the Slayer was his priority.

70 Goodbye Iowa (100 words)

Date: 2005-01-04 03:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] niennah.livejournal.com
The road stretched out flat like a tapering line to the horizon, heat rolling off it in sulphurous waves under the burning summer sun. Tucker pushed up his sunglasses and rested his hands on the wheel, confident that the next bend in the road was somewhere miles ahead or behind, beyond the place where the sky met the never-ending corn. He felt as if he existed where the rear view mirror met the world.

“He’s behind us!” said Amy, panic in her voice as she looked back.

Tucker sighed. “Goodbye, Iowa,” he said wearily, pushing the pedal to the floor.

"Are not."

"Am too. Your hellhounds didn’t even make it past Buffy," Andrew’s voice, still a shade too close to a whine, gathered strength through the phone.

"Hello?" Andrew asked, looking at the display to see if he was still connected to his brother.

Tucker sighed, replying, "And your flying monkeys were what? Trained to irritate the drama club? They were fucking stupid. Mine were trained to kill. So, I win. I’m the bad egg."

"Yeah, but I’ve got plans. Big ones. I'm part of a syndicate, and—"

"'Syndicate'? Ooh, you’re bad now," Tucker snapped. "But I still win."

19. Lie to Me (100 words)

Date: 2005-01-05 02:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] roissy0.livejournal.com
They lay tangled amidst the clothes and sheets. The only thing that had mattered was their need to touch each other, taste each other. Andrew knew this was all they were, all they ever would be. To Warren he was just a cheap knockoff for what couldn’t be replaced. He also knew he would do anything for this man. It was the growing emptiness inside him that made him ask, “Do you love me?” Warren never moved as he watched the ceiling fan whirl slowly around. Andrew reached over and lightly stroked his face and said, “Just lie to me.”

46. Helpless (100 words)

Date: 2005-01-05 02:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] roissy0.livejournal.com
This wasn’t how it was supposed to be.

I’d finally given in to the furtive glances and uncomfortable silences. Thinking what the Hell, I’m horny, he’s willing and we have time to kill. I didn’t plan on this becoming a regular thing… until he said those words. “I’ll do anything.” That made me hard just thinking of the possibilities. Since then Andrew had taken everything I gave him and was grateful for it.

Now, He’s on his knees in front of me, his arms harnessed behind him and all I can think is, he’s so fucking hot when He’s helpless.

I know, I know. But the title just cried out for more Road Trip!Verse, lol.

Some day they'll have babies, when I get a minute to write away from hordes of relatives (though tonight they bestowed presents, yay!).

74. Where the Wild Things Are

Date: 2005-01-11 06:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lm.livejournal.com
It was only natural that the survivors would band together; most of of the people the Initiative took would never walk free again. Somehow we found each other, responding to a call we couldn't quite understand, across a continent, until we were all in one place on a harbor's edge.

"I found a place for us," Ethan Rayne said, " where they'll never trap us again." And those of us who had nowhere to go back to followed him, gratefully.

The island is home, now, and we've found some kind of balance. Plus, there's no end to the Swiss Family Robinson jokes.

Ethan's seen that movie.

Ethan's seen a lot of things.

He's dangerous, but so am I. I can almost control the wolf, but sometimes it forces its way out. He chains me up and stays with me, nearer than anyone else would dare.

There's something about him that keeps me from hurting him.

Sometimes I still dream that they've found us, the soldiers. I dream I'm alone and naked in a cell again.

But then I wake up, and he's there.

"Right as Rayne," he'll say, when he wakes up suddenly, shaking, and I ask him how he is.

Sometimes it's hard to get by here. Rough. It's hard for most of us to just stay sane. But we'll make it. It'll be all right. We're the survivors.

77. Primeval

Date: 2005-01-12 04:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blackgarden.livejournal.com
The shadows of those ancient girls touched everything Buffy did.

Gifted with power, she was, with a side effect of emotional retardation. Buffy had found herself unable to foster relationships with others; when involved in interpersonal confrontations, she’d pout, she’d yell, she’d stomp off and slam her door. Willow distanced herself. She saw Dawn forming the sort of complex bonds with people that she herself had tried and tried to create.

The personality traits had been there, all along – Buffy’s stubbornness, her petulance, her neediness – but unlike normal young women, she never outgrew it. Twenty-three years old, and inside, deep, she still felt the volatile fury of the teenaged girls that had Slayed before her. Thousands of years of bloodlust and self-righteous anger were written into her Slayer DNA.

It colored her worldview red.

It left her isolated, with only ghosts of the dead girls in her blood for company.

That is so clever on many levels - as a criticism of Buffy, as a criticism of how she is written, and also as a sympathetic piece. It's very impressive.

I wish you would write more!

This is a great idea based on this title. The Oz voice is creepy yet familiar. Ethan's vulnerability is excellently written - not overstated, but there. I love it. :)
