Ways to tell that Fandom has overtaken Reality in your hierarchy of life, no.147:

You come across this website, for Co-Dependents Anonymous, and immediately think of its "humorous fanfic" potential.

For serious, though. I don't like to mock people with medical conditions, especially psychological ones, but ... Co-Dependents Anonymous? Really?

It does sort of seem as if co-dependent people might then become dependent on the group. But then again, I'm sure someone has thought of that and solved the issue. It does seem rather... odd, though. I have to echo your "really?".

Of course, you're right re Fandom and Reality. Rodney or John at a meeting - there is definitely humorous fanfic potential there!

It seems to work, as there are 1200 groups worldwide or something. I can't remember exact numbers, but I read it on the Wikipedia this morning, so it must be true. Perhaps they don't let the group members get to close, or they rotate so they all go to different groups? Or perhaps they know their 12 step programme is succeeding when the group members start avoiding each other?

I can just sort of see the IOA coming to Atlantis and going: "Look, you lot were all sent out here on this one-way suicide mission because you're damaged goods and we were okay with losing you. Now you seem to be a permanent fixture, we need to fix some of your problems, so we're going to set up a network of self-help groups." And John would have to go to all of them, and he'd be really annoyed because he's fine, and then eventually they'll all have had enough and they'll succeed from Earth control. Hurrah! All because of the Atlantis CoDA Chapter.
