Is it wrong to wish someone syphillus, high taxes and lifelong poverty when you haven't had any contact with them for a few years, even if they're a bitch-faced Republican whore? No, I thought not. *drags voodoo doll out of cupboard, brushes dust off, and stabs a few dozen pins into its eyes*
I missed Dr Who because I was at the ice hockey. Semi final playoffs, and we lost 3-1 to Fife, damnit. We're off to Fife tomorrow, and if we manage to win that, there'll be a final deciding game on Thursday, so let's hope for that. Good evening, but I do wish we'd won.
I've spent the last two days playing The Sims constantly. Remus and Sirius have moved back in with Remus' aging parents, and then got married <3 Molly Weasley now has five children and a sixth on the way. She keeps dying and I have to keep resetting to my last save, which is annoying. Apparently five children is a bit much to deal with, especially when two of them are toddler!Fred and toddler!George. Don't know how she's going to cope when baby!Ron (I hope) arrives. Oh well.
We're going over to aunt C's tomorrow, though I can't remember why. I meant to go and do a bit of volunteering with the old Lib Dems yesterday and/or today, but .. well, see above, re: the Sims.
So,
From everyone ever: Off the top of your head, right now, what ten 'ships would you likely drop what you're doing to read fic for. Or, alternately, what are the top ten ships that you'll give a fic a chance for, or that you've been dying to write, or that you've been dying to read.... These can be new loves, old flames, or something in between. Explain if you like, but you don't have to. Then tell us 3 things these ships say about you.
I don't think I have 10 that I'd drop everything to read, but let's see if I can find 10 that I'd read at all.
1. Warren/Tucker - yeah *g* They just fit together.
2. Draco/Harry - in the books, there's nothing, *nothing*, to put them together. But in fic, anything's possible, and there's such potential there for anger, misunderstanding and complications.
3. Nick/Greg - <3 It's practically canon, and I will not hear otherwise.
4. Ecklie/Greg (if there was any) - it's just so .. *wrong*. Haha. This is the point where the "drop everything" stops and the ".. uh, what else might I read?" starts.
5. Sirius/Remus - Again, this really is practically, if not literally, canon. I think canon. Joint Christmas presents, for Christ's sake!
6. Jonathan/Buffy - I didn't really think J/B could work until I wrote some. I was just working through "how could this make sense?" for myself, and it worked. Buffy's always been in relationships where the guy couldn't deal with her being the "important" one and him being the one who followed. Jonathan could deal with that. He's built to follow. Of course, he's also dead, but just pretend he isn't, okay?
7. Ron/Hermione - again, I think this one's canon, or soon will be. They're just meant to be together.
8. Warren/Andrew - I haven't really read any W/A recently, or written any, but there's still something quite compelling about them. Although Warren's totally thinking of Tucker .. ;)
I can't think of any more.
What this says about me:
1. I like couples who have, or have the potential to form, a strong bond with each other. They need each other, and in a way they sort of close in and form a single unit. The rest of the world might be against them, but they've always got each other.
2. I prefer ships with some basis in canon, or at the very least ships that can work within canon.
3. I won't read anything as long as it's well written; I'll read any of these pairings as long as they're well written. I'm fussy about my fic. Usually.
There are probably more deep, telling things you can glean from that list, but I don't know what they are. For me, they're just My Ships, and I love them all dearly. As long as they're well written.
I think I need some different fandom icons. I need SG:A pictures, LOTR pictures, and .. hmm .. I don't know. Just shiny pictures. I want some variety.

Date: 2005-03-26 02:25 pm (UTC)I once went to an ice hockey match. I found it infinitly more entertaining than a football match.

Exactly. Joint Christmas presents = canon.
AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE INCLUDING JKR HERSELFAhem. Maybe.(no subject)

Date: 2005-03-26 04:29 pm (UTC)It is entertaining. Except that we lost. But someone got taken off the ice on a stretcher after his ankle got broken or something, which meant paramedics trying to walk across the ice without falling over on their behinds. Heh.
Absolutely!! CANON!!! :D

Date: 2005-03-27 03:37 am (UTC)I've come to the conclusion it's all part of a government plot to stop anyone doing anything useful. 'I can't overthrow tyrants today, my Sim only needs to get one more mechanical point and they can get promoted to the top of their career path, and I want to see what colour hair the new baby has'. Yep. We're all doomed. ;)
Molly Weasley now has five children and a sixth on the way. She keeps dying and I have to keep resetting to my last save, which is annoying.
I haven't done it yet, but if you get the University expansion pack and one of your Sims follows the paranormal career track the gizmo is a resurrecting machine.

Date: 2005-03-27 08:24 am (UTC)That machine would be *so* useful. Dead!Molly is no use to me. She's just had baby six, Ginny, and now I have to work on getting Ron born. Out of order, unfortunately, but his choice was to be the youngest or to be Ronetta, and I think he'd prefer being Ron with an older sister. Dudley Dursley is already Delia Dursley. Oops *g*
