Like pretty much everyone else on my flist today, I'm Not Happy about the idea of any of my posts - public or otherwise - being archived somewhere without my permission, and where I have no control over them. Why would anyone even need to archive my posts? They're right here on LJ, and they're not going anywhere.

I trust that you all have the good sense not to have done this frienditto thing.

In other news, I am watching a programme on BBC4 about Norwegian folk music. Fantastic :)

I just saw some posts about that frienditto thing. WTF. I'm sure people must use it purely to post f-locked stuff and show it to other people.

I know. It makes no sense. What's its function? I can't see one.

WTF? I think I saw this mentioned on someone else's, but WTF is it?

And I'm not too happy about it either, even though I don't usually flock things.

It's this site where you can enter your LJ username and password, and give it an URL to "archive" and it archives the URL on its own site. For example, I could give it my LJ name and password, and give it the URL of a flocked post on your LJ, and it would log in as me, archive that post, and make it available to all and sundry on its own site, and you would never know it was me who did it.

It's not good.

Should I be worried, or is it something that will burn out quickly under the unhappy pressure of thousands of LJ users NOT willing to lay everything out for everyone to see?

I've just heard that it's already been crushed under the pressure of thousands of unhappy LJ users, so no worries, it seems.

I just went to look and it came up with 403 You don't have permission to be on this server. Or something. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

Indeed :)
