When in doubt, post a meme *g* Last seen on
epeeblade's LJ, this looks rather fun. Although sadly these days I don't write in any fandoms. But maybe this will inspire me. Don't feel obliged to stick to "pirates with fairy wings set in the 14th century but with space technology" type AUs. You know me, my favourite AUs are the "what if X happened/never happened?" type
The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write in, and give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU,superhero AU, Ancient Rome, etc). I will then explain what story from your chosen fandom I would write for your chosen type of AU.

I'm in a rather zombie-ish mood lately.

In fact, I've never seen a single zombie film in my entire life, so I'm not entirely clear on the format. I understand it involves either the eating of brains, or following the commands on one's zombie master. For my purposes, I think it would have to start out with some sort of virus. This virus would somehow get into Atlantis, would spread by touch, and would kill people within 24 hours. Their brains would be dead, but their bodies would continue to be animate, spreading the virus. Hence, zombies. There would then be lots of running around trying to get the hell out, but - oh noes! - the gate has been sabotaged and the jumpers have all been, oh, I don't know, thrown in the sea or some such.
So, lots of running around, all around the city trying to get the gate working while dodging former colleagues turned brain-eating zombies, etc.
Eventually everyone's dead, except our intrepid foursome who, somehow, miraculously manage to not get zombified, possibly due to their intense personal issues which mean that none of them really like being touched or having anyone in their personal space. Ironic, some might say.
At this point it would depend how I felt - either they'd find/resurrect/swim down to a jumper and escape and live happily ever after, having nuked Altantis to prevent the virus escaping and infecting more people. Or they'd get the gate working, gate back to earth, and then - oh, horror of horrors! - reveal to the reader that actually they *have* become zombies too! They then infect earth, and everyone dies!
It would be far more dramatic than this synopsis suggested, but with highly humorous asides, and a romantic subplot of some kind. It wouldn't be my finest work, but I'd end up relatively surprised with how happy I was with it.
