Strange how the smell of burning human flesh can spark off nostalgia

Man, I really miss Stargate fandom some days. Mm yeah. *g*

(Some of these are friends only posts, btw. Sorry.)

:) What's the first one about? I only watch Atlantis, but have no idea about pairings, and factions and everything...

Oh, it's just a spot of "everyone in fandom sucks except me!" style ranting. I'm not really in Atlantis fandom either, hence my saying I miss SG fandom sometimes, but someone else on my flist commented on that first post, and it reminded me of the "good" old days back in SG1 fandom.

Different issues, but in the last week or so Atlantis discussions have been making me have serious flashbacks to being involved in SG fandom (and not in a good way). It's been a while since I've been fannishly involved with a currently airing show, and I've been reminded of the downsides.

Yeah. I'm not really involved myself, at all, but just seeing a small part of it playing out has reminded me quite strongly of those heady SG1 days. There are really bits of it that I miss sometimes, but in general steering clear of fandom trauma has done wonders for my blood pressure, and is therefore something to be recommended, I think.

Ah, Intergalactic Council, the sweet sweet memories.

It's the show politics and the far-too-close for comfort relationship between TPTB and fandom that I haven't missed, and have been remindered of.
